Taylor Blair, won the Novice Men's Upper Great Lakes Regional Championship Sunday by a huge margin of 16 points. He was 2nd in the Short Program on Saturday and walked away with the Free Skate portion Sunday to qualify him for the Midwestern Sectional Championships in November.
Sophia LaMay skated a superb 3rd place Short Program on Saturday and the 2nd highest artistic performance in the Free Skate portion to place 4th in the Junior Ladies event. She also qualifies for the Midwestern Sectional Championships.
Alexandra Volpicelli skated 1st place performances in both the Short Program and the Free Skate in the Senior Ladies division in the New England Regional Championships this weekend. Her Championship win qualifies her for the Eastern Sectional Championships in November.
Emily Young , Shattuck-St. Mary's graduate 2009, placed 2nd in the same Senior Ladies event in New Englands and will also compete in the Eastern Sectionals.
Maggie Hausmann skated to a 2nd place finish in her Intermediate Ladies qualifying round placing her in the Final round events. She skated her Short Program Sunday and is in 2nd place in this tough field of 24 skaters. Her final Free Skate event will take place Tuesday.
On the International scene:
Brittany Lau has been selected to represent Singapore and Shattuck-St. Mary's in the World Junior Championships in the Hague in March. This will be our 1st skater to compete in a World Championship!
Nanoha Sato leaves today for her Sectional Championships in Japan. She qualified through her Regionals in the Senior Ladies event.
